Anxiety House believes in providing our clients with the very best care so we often collaborate with other mental health professionals. In order to minimise lengthy wait lists and to ensure that our clients have all their needs met we have employed two very experienced adult psychiatrists, Dr Lisa Keulder and Dr Jane Robertson that can manage your medication and treatment needs. A question we often get asked is, what is the difference between a Psychiatrist and Clinical Psychologist?
The answer is that a psychiatrist is a medical doctor who has completed their medical degree and a period of general medical/ surgical training prior to gaining general registration as a doctor. At some point after this, they commence additional training for at least 5 years in number of diverse areas. A clinical psychologist on the other, does not have a medical degree, but has studied for a similar number of years (minimum of six years full-time university training) to specialise in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of a wide range of emotional, behavioural and relational issues. Clinical Psychologist and Psychiatrists often work together to support clients.
